It was announced today that Robin Hunicke (executive producer of thatgamecompany, responsible for the PSN’s Journey and Flower) has left to join Tiny Speck, known for their free-to-play MMO Glitch. This marks the second departure from the developer this week, with yesterday’s headlines seeing co-president and co-founder Kelle Santiago leave to pursue new challenges.
The move comes hot on the heels of a conclusion of a three game exclusivity deal with Sony. Hunicke, who “swooned” at the thought of working for Tiny Speck, had previously introduced Katamari creator Keita Takahashi to the studio.
Meanwhile, Santiago stated on Gamasutra that “after doing these three games, I think it was a really great opportunity for all of us to look at what we've learned and what I've taken from that experience, and go forth and take it into new arenas”.
thatgamecompany has since revealed that they are beginning work on their next project, although it is unknown what platforms it will appear on or what it will be.
